Drake Ties Michael Jackson In No. 1 Hits
Drake is coming for the crown. The Toronto rapper has now tied Michael Jackson with 13 No. 1 hits on the Billboard Hot 100. Drake’s 13th chart-topper is “First Person Shooter” off of his latest album For All The Dogs. While the feat is monumental for Drake, it also marked J. Cole’s first No. 1 hit as the feature on the record.
Drake has always been known for his antics and posted a photoshopped image on Instagram of Michael Jackson. In the photo, the King of Pop is wearing an OVO sweatshirt and taking a mirror selfie. He also shared on his Instagram Story, where he made a correction to Billboards’ record claim. He wrote that they didn’t account for his feature on Travis Scott’s “SICKO MODE.” However, according to Billboard, the publication is aware of “SICKO MODE” as a top charter. It claims that he wasn’t “officially credited on the track” so it doesn’t count. This is also the case for Young Money’s “Every Girl” (No. 10 peak in 2009) and “Bedrock” (No. 2 peak in 2010) as they, too, do not count as metrics in his career total. It is also worth mentioning that they are tied for the solo male No. 1 record as the female record has Mariah Carey with 19 No. 1 singles to date. The Beatles have the most with 20 No. 1 hits on the Billboard Hot 100.
Drake Beats The Beatles Top 5 Record
This is not the first time Drake has been toe-to-toe with a great. Last year, the Toronto rapper broke The Beatles’ record of the most top five Hot 100 hits with 30 at the time. After his collab album Her Loss with 21 Savage and his eighth studio album For All The Dogs, he now has 41 top-five hits on the chart. He manifested the achievement when he rapped “I got more slaps than the Beatles,” on Meek Mill’s 2018 “Going Bad.”
Drake’s eighth studio album, For All The Dogs, also was a top charter debuting at No. 1 on the Billboard 200. The project included guest appearances from SZA, Teezo Touchdown, 21 Savage, J. Cole, Bad Bunny, PartyNextDoor, Chief Keef, Sexxy Red, Yeat, and Lil Yachty. The project was released on Oct. 6.
