2 North Carolina Stores Named Best Chocolate Shops In The U.S.
In North Carolina, two locally owned chocolate shops were named among the country’s best by USA Today’s 10Best. They recently published a report highlighting some of America’s best chocolate stores. The primary criteria here was that they needed to be independently owned. “Independent chocolate shops across the country offer a variety of delicious and distinctive chocolates that are made with premium ingredients and infused with unique flavors,” they explain.

French Broad Chocolate – Asheville
10Best describes this sweet spot by saying it is a “bean-to-bar chocolate maker (that) carefully sources cacao from trusted farmers, resulting in sustainable and stunning confections, including their vibrantly colored bonbons.” Their chocolate is handcrafted.
French Broad opened in 2012 and stemmed from a passion project inspired by the owners’ trip to Costa Rica. The husband and wife duo had purchased an abandoned coca field and opened a café. Videri Chocolate Factory – Raleigh
Next, head about four hours east, and you will be at the next North Carolina chocolate shop that was also named one of the best in the country. Videri describes itself as “a cozy downtown chocolate factory that scrupulously sources every ingredient to ensure a high quality, responsible chocolate.” In addition, they have become a trusted resource in providing recipes.
