But, there's something special about cracking open that first can of beer when the weather gets warm. North Carolina has two of the best brand-new breweries in America, as it turns out. So, if you're looking to get your beer on, try these new hot spots.
Best New Breweries in America
The best-of list comes from USA Today's 10Best Readers' Choice awards. "Craft breweries are opening in record numbers in the United States, at rates of hundreds each year," they state. They added that they set out to "honor the best new breweries in the country," which means those those founded in the past three years, since the beginning of 2021. They asked a panel of beer experts to nominate their top choices, and then readers voted on them.
Let's start with the No. 1 best new brewery in America. It's Seedz Brewery in Union Pier, Michigan. USA Today points out that Michigan breweries often get the shaft and overshadowed by Pacific Northwest pubs. "Seedz, a small-batch brewery in Union Pier is making its mark and bringing visitors to this sleepy town of just 600 inhabitants," they write. Seedz locally sources all their hops and malt. They also specialize in "slow pours, taking 5-7 minutes to pour the perfect pint." Very nice.
As for North Carolina, No. 5 on the list is Lesser-Known Beer Co. in Winston-Salem. "Lesser-Known is happy staying under the radar, but their aim of championing under-represented beer styles, ingredients, and processes is getting them plenty of recognition," they write. Finally, No. 9 is New Origin Brewery in Asheville, North Carolina. New Origin is dog-friendly and kid-friendly, so that's cool. USA Today says you can "imbibe some great craft beers while devouring wood-fired pizza from the 900 Degreez food truck in their parking lot."
Spring break always arrives at just the right time. It's when the holiday cheer has totally worn off, and it's also right when spring is around the corner but it's not quite here yet. I remember loving spring break in school. But, even if you're not in school or college anymore, why not take a fun spring break trip this year? Thankfully, there are plenty of trendy, cheap spring break destinations available. One North Carolina spot is even among the best cheap spring break trips in the US. (South Carolina is in here, too.)
If you want to get the most bang for your buck, as they say, stay close to home. It doesn't have to be a staycation. But, why not travel to a town that you've never been to that's within road trip distance? Of course, if you live in a cold climate, you might want to travel to a hot spot. The good news is that a lot of warm spring break destinations have great rates, because tourist is simply their business. So, if you go to a popular spring break spot, chances are they'll have some good deals and be able to cut you a good deal due to just how many people who travel there each year.
The perfect spring break destination is really about getting away from it all. You want a place that fun and exciting. But, you also want a spot that really helps you break away from routine and, hopefully, your electronic devises. Another bonus is if you find a spring break destination near friends who you maybe haven't seen in a while. It can be a really fun trip to find a central location and meet up with long-lost friends.
