Cassie Shares A Statement Following Diddy Video Release
Following the surveillance footage showing Diddy assaulting Cassie in 2016, Cassie shares a statement.
Last week, CNN obtained footage of the “Bad Boy For Life” kicking then-girlfriend Cassie in a hotel hallway. The security camera footage is over two minutes long and shows Diddy, who is now 54, running in the hotel hallway and grabbing Cassie, who is now 37, as she was standing outside of the elevators.
Seemingly looking as though she is trying to leave, Diddy grabs her by the hoodie or the back of her head/neck and throws her onto the floor. He is only wearing a white towel around his waist as he kicks her. She remains motionless on the carpeted floor, and he kicks her again. She then moves her hand to cover and rub the spot he kicked.
He then pulls her by her arm and tries to drag her back to where he came from. The video then shows court documents that state that Diddy was “extremely intoxicated” and punched Cassie “in the face, giving her a black eye.” After he fell asleep, the documents state that is when Cassie attempted to leave, and the footage shows how Diddy attempted to stop her from doing so.
Cassie Shares A Statement
On Thursday morning (May 23), Cassie took to Instagram to share her gratitude for the support. Though she didn’t mention Diddy by name, she commended those who have been taking this issue “seriously.” The mother of two added that it is crucial to help those who are in similar situations.
“Thank you for all of the love and support from my family, friends, strangers and those I have yet to meet,” she wrote. “The outpouring of love has created a place for my younger self to settle and feel safe now, but this is only the beginning. Domestic Violence is THE issue. It broke me down to someone I never thought I would become. With a lot of hard work, I am better today, but I will always be recovering from my past.”
She continued: “Thank you to everyone that has taken the time to take this matter seriously. My only ask is that EVERYONE open your heart to believing victims the first time. It takes a lot of heart to tell the truth out of a situation that you were powerless in. I offer my hand to those that are still living in fear. Reach out to your people, don’t cut them off. No one should carry this weight alone.”
She concluded her post by saying, “This healing journey is never ending, but this support means everything to me. Thank you. Love Always, Cassie.”
Responding to her post, celebrities and fans alike shared their touching words of support. Karrueche wrote, “Love you [heart emoji].” Malika Haqq responded, “Proud of you baby [teary smiling emoji].” 50 Cent reposted Cassie’s statement and added in his caption, “I can’t wait to hear new music from @cassie , get to it let’s go !”
