What’s your breakfast food of choice? Pancakes? Yep me too. Despite growing up with the nickname ‘Eggo’ because of my love for waffles, I have really grown to love pancakes. With IHOP’s pancake of the month I know I’ll be frequenting them despite my bank account begging me not to. Because food costs al ot though making your own pancakes is the better option. TikTok is filled with different styles of Pancakes and this one is really taken off, it’s called Scrambled Pancakes:
Simple you take pancake batter but instead of flipping it after cooking on one side in a pancake shape you scramble it like eggs. It looks like funnel cake or the Austrian dish: Kaiserschmarrn. After you are finished, you add powdered sugar, fruits and/or syrup. Now @archivedchef didn’t prefer this way but she did try it differently with much better results making sure not to scramble until after flipping it.
Much better texture and of course you should add your extra flavors in your batter so you can enjoy the taste in every bite. Pancakes are an art form! I think everyone has been there when making your pancakes where the first few aren’t the prettiest and the next few are much better so this is a great alternative to make sure you do it correctly each time.
Tips For Making Pancakes
Now everyone adds their own spin to the flavor of pancakes but here are a couple of extremely important technical tips to make sure they are good no matter what way you make them:
- Don’t Overmix your Batter: Lumps are ok. All you need to do is make sure the wet and dry ingredients are together. If you overmix the pancakes will come out tough and chewy and not fluffy.
- Make Sure Your Surface Is Well Heated: Griddle, skillet etc. Flat top surfaces are best for pancakes but always make sure it’s seasoned, greased and fully heated before you start cooking. This way everything cooks completely and evenly. Your job will be easy.
- Flip At The Right Time: Hate it when it falls apart when you flip? Lopsided looking circles. Yep you are flipping to early and too many times. The edges with brown and you will see bubbles form on the uncooked side. When the bubble pops, it’s time to flip and it will with ease.
Now that we are hungry. Here’s some other viral pancake styles I want to try!
