Today is National Singles Day. A day to celebrate the almost 50% of people in the United States who are unattached. Almost HALF! That’s a whole lot of us who are single, whether by choice or by circumstance. Personally, I am in the “by choice” category. I enjoy living my life as a single person, and at this point in my life, I have no interest in changing that. But that said, being single isn’t always easy in a couple’s world, and there are definitely many challenges. I’m going to help you out by making your single life easier.

National Singles Day

The day is celebrated on September 22nd every year, and it’s all about just that, celebrating single life. Focusing on the successes and the positives, and not acting like single life is a condition that needs to be cured. It’s about putting the spotlight on yourself and realizing that even if you would like to be in a couple, you are enough just the way you are. Wow, I sound like a Bruno Mars song.

Celebrate YOU

So how do you celebrate National Singles Day? Anyway YOU want to. Go to the movies, shopping, cook for yourself, hang out with friends, hit up a spa. Whatever. Do it alone or with others. However, you like to celebrate, make yourself the focus, and shine that spotlight on yourself.

Single Challenges

As much as I want to believe that National Singles Day is every day, it’s not, and being single comes with challenges. Whether it’s trying to connect the clasp on a bracelet, or zip up the back of your dress, we could always use an extra pair of hands at times. There are definitely things that can address any issue you may have. From loneliness to self-care, to getting things done, here are some Must Haves To Make Your Single Life Easier.

  • 1. Mighty Handle

Anyone who has ever tried to carry an entire week’s worth of groceries on one arm will totally get this. I don’t know what it is in my single brain that makes me refuse to make two trips, and I love that this will make it easier.

  • 2. Jar Opener

Listen, I’m pretty strong, but sometimes there is a jar that just refuses to go down without a fight. Here’s your solution.

  • 3. Bracelet Helper

This is so frustrating! You have a cute bracelet and just can’t get it on yourself. I sometimes just use a piece of tape. It works in a pinch, but this seems like a much better solution.

  • Selfie Stick/Stabilizer

I like to travel solo, but I also want to have some great pictures to come home with. A good selfie stick can help all that. And this one is a stabilizer so that no matter how shaky things are (think bumpy jeep tour), you’ll still get great pictures and video.

  • 5. Personal Alarm

Safety is of great importance when you’re single, and it’s good to have something you can “sound the alarm” with if you get in a tough situation.

  • 6. Body Pillow

Miss cuddles and spooning with someone? This may be the next best thing. Hell, it may be the best thing! It’s not going to make you sweaty or kick you all night. I’m definitely getting this. And ignore the fact that it says maternity pillow. You don’t have to be pregnant to use it. Lol!

  • 7. Basic Tool Set

We all need to know how to make basic home repairs, and with instructions on YouTube, there’s no excuse not to learn how to do them yourself. Start with something like this and then move up to some power tools!

  • 8. Furniture Moving Discs

I’ve used these, and they are awesome! If you need to move your couch or a chair or any piece of furniture, it’s tough if you don’t have help. Well, with these furniture moving discs, it’s easy peasy.

  • Zip My Dress

Probably one of the most frustrating things about not having another set of hands is not being able to zip up the back of a dress. Ugh. Here’s your second set of hands!

  • 10. The Clapper

k hear me out. Yes, The Clapper. THE Clapper. I couldn’t believe they still sell it but you know, Amazon has everything. I know there are other more updated, high-tech options. But I’m sure they’re much more expensive. Instead, for $21, you can just “clap on, clap off.”

  • 11. Portable Door Lock

Again, safety is key. Didn’t even know that this existed, but I’m glad it does and I will be getting it. Adds extra security at home, and on the go.

  • Individual Mini Le Creuset

Sometimes if you’re just cooking for one, you just want an individual-sized portion. Make anything from cobblers to pot pies. These are so cute and come in lots of colors.

  • 13. Planner Pro

I don’t know about you, but I struggle with goals and organization. This has been great! I recently had a “budget day” with a couple friends where we got together to talk about our financial goals, create/tweak our budgets, and the hardest part…cancel unused and unnecessary subscriptions. This planner is an undated 12-month planner that has places for a “vision board,” weekly and monthly goal sections, pockets, and even some cute stickers. I love this planner! As a single person, I believe we should have our own dreams and goals, and not just put them on hold until we’re coupled up.
