In August of 1988, there was a seismic shift in the world of music when Yo! MTV Raps debuted on MTV.
It was hit from the first episode, ending up being one of the highest rated shows in the music channel’s history.
For the next seven years, Yo! MTV Raps became “the” place for Hip-Hop artists to be seen and “must watch” TV for fans.
