Study Shows That Streaming Binge-Watching Make Climate Change Worse
Apparently, “Netflix and Chill” is terrible for the climate. Big Think is reporting that streaming services generate high emissions, which is contributing to climate change.
“Watching a half-hour show would cause emissions equivalent to 1.6 kg of carbon dioxide. That’s also like driving 3.9 miles.” They also say that over the last year, online video services have generated as much in emission as the country of Spain. And the amount is expected to double. Overall, “such centers 0.3 percent to overall carbon emissions.”
Streaming services doing most of the damage are Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime, and any other similar apps. With Disney+ and Apple, it will get even worse.
After the streaming services, the next largest category of streaming videos contributing to the problem is online porn.
