Beyonce Urges People To Vote At The 2020 BET Awards
During the 2020 BET Awards, Beyonce received the Humanitarian Award, and during her acceptance speech, she urged people to vote.
“She’s always turning up, looking out, and making us all a little bit better. A little more fierce. And she’s doing it all while staying devoted to her children and the loved one she holds dear,” Michelle Obama said of the megastar while presenting her award.
“So to my girl, I just want to say you inspire me. You inspire all of us which is why I’m so proud to name Beyonce the 2020 BET Awards Humanitarian of the Year honoree. Congratulations girl. I love you so much.”
“Thank you so much for this beautiful honor. I want to dedicate this award to all of my brothers out there. All of my sisters out there inspiring me, marching and fighting for change. Your voices are being heard and you’re proving to our ancestors that their struggles were not in vain,” Beyonce said.
“Now, we have one more thing we need to do to walk in our true power and that is to vote.” Prior to urging her fans to vote at the award show, Beyonce also did the same on social media.
“I am proud to stand with my mother, [Tina Lawson] and the Mothers of The Movement to send this open letter to senators calling for the passing of the Heroes Act,” she wrote on Instagram. “This bill would help provide funding to ensure that our vote is protected this election cycle. Read the letter and add your voice with ours. Together we can be the change we want to see in the world. Sign the petition today by clicking the link in my bio.”
