Juelz Santana Has Been Released From Prison
Juelz Santana has been released from prison. On Wednesday (Aug. 5), the Harlem rapper was released after serving 20 months behind bars. The rapper celebrated his freedom by sharing a selfie on Instagram and wearing a mask along with a “Santana Free” t-shirt and hat.
“Free at last. I’m back. [Santana Free],” he wrote in the caption of his Instagram post. He also shared a photo of himself hugging his son. “I missed my family. God is good,” Santana wrote.
When Santana was released from prison, he was greeted by his three children and his wife, Kimbella. The rapper had been locked up since December 2018, and he was scheduled to be released in February 2021.
However, Kimbella and his legal team pushed for him to have an early release due to the COVID-19 pandemic. According to his wife, the rapper was supposed to be released last Tuesday, but “some s— happened.”
Santana had asked his fans on Instagram if he should cut his beard and hair because he went “5 months no cut.” Wednesday night (Aug. 5), rapper Jim Jones shared a video of Juelz Santana getting his hair and beard cut on his Instagram story.

In March 2018, Santana was arrested after a .38-caliber handgun and eight oxycodone pills were discovered in the rapper’s carry-on luggage during an X-ray screening at Newark International Airport.
A person with previous felony convictions, Santana pled guilty to unlawful possession of a weapon and possession of a controlled dangerous substance. He was then sentenced to 27 months in prison for attempting to bring a loaded gun on a flight.
Santana, 38, will be under supervised release for a year following his release from prison. Back in March, the rapper released his #FREESANTANA mixtape featuring Lil Wayne, 2 Chainz, Dave East, A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie, and Jeremih.
