UNC Legend Roy Williams Retiring After 33 Years in College Basketball

The school has announced a news conference for 4 p.m. today for Williams to address the media.
Williams finishes his career with 903 wins, including a 485-163 record at UNC. Before he was with the Tarheels, he was the third-winningest coach in Kansas basketball history.
Williams led the Tarheels to three national championships, in 2005, 2009 and 2017, and was in nine Final Fours overall between Kansas and UNC.
There is already an outpouring of support from the basketball community, including from cross-Triangle rival Duke University.
"Salute to UNC Head Coach Roy Williams on a legendary 48-year career," the program tweeted about his retiring from their official account. "All respect. Thank you for all you have done for the game, our league and the greatest rivalry in sports."
The Atlantic Coast Conference issued a statement from Commissioner Jim Phillips congratulating Williams on his career.
