Darius Rucker to Host World Golf Hall of Fame Ceremony in Pinehurst

Country superstar Darius Rucker will be heading to our area this June, as part of a celebration for the World Golf Hall of Fame. Rucker will host the 2024 World Golf Hall of Fame Ceremony on Monday, June 10 at Pinehurst Resort & Country Club in the Village of Pinehurst. "Golf is my biggest passion outside of music, so it’s an honor to be invited to be part of such a significant event for the sport," Rucker said in a release. "I love the course at Pinehurst and can’t wait to celebrate this year’s inductees." The ceremony will air live at 7 p.m. on the Golf Channel, and kicks off an historic week at Pinehurst. This year's U.S. Open will be held later that week on Pinehurst No. 2. And the grand opening for the new World Golf Hall of Fame Museum at the USGA's Golf House Pinehurst. "Given Darius Rucker’s longstanding involvement in golf he is a perfect host for this momentous occasion, which is marking the 50th anniversary of the World Golf Hall of Fame," said Greg McLaughlin, CEO, World Golf Foundation. This year's World Golf Hall of Fame induction ceremony will include honors for Padraig Harrington, Sandra Palmer, the late Johnny Farrell, Beverly Hanson, Tom Weiskopf, and the Founders of the LPGA. A special award will also be given to basketball superstar Steph Curry, who will be honored with the Charlie Sifford Award, honoring advancing diversity in golf.
