WWE is pressing on to WrestleMania 40, after a successful Royal Rumble.

Despite a whirlwind of new promotions and controversy, WWE kicked off the Road to Wrestlemania with the first big event of the year, The Royal Rumble. The rules are simple 30 men compete for a chance to Main Event Wrestlemania for the world title of their choosing. The women superstars get the same opportunity in their version of the match. This year’s Rumble didn’t disappoint, with great surprises including the return of Naomi & Andrade to WWE. An appearance by current TNA Knockout Women’s Champion, Jordynne Grace which surely will lead to her signing to the E when her contract comes up and a surprise entry by Pat McAfee.  The winners this year were two favorites: Cody Rhodes & Bayley. Going into this match they both had a lot of momentum but it still was a big surprise that both won.

Bayley has always been the workhorse of the women’s division. She could have a great match with anyone which is necessary to create wrestling stars but it always seemed like she never got the recognition she deserved. Since she created her faction or group none as Damage Ctrl things have changed vastly. Each member has been featured prominently across WWE television and one of the members. IYO SKY is the current WWE Women’s Champion. With The Kabuki Warriors winning the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships. Bayley winning the Rumble makes things extremely interesting going into Wrestlemania.

Cody Rhodes is the top guy of the WWE. Being the son of a wrestling legend, ‘The American Dream’ Dusty Rhodes, this has almost been destined for him to do. Last year, after injury he returned at the Royal Rumble won it and then went to face Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns at Wrestlemania 39. All the momentum was on his side but sadly he lost. Cody’s mission has been to Finish The Story, which is to win the WWE Title something his legendary father never got to do or see his son do before he passed away in 2015 so going into the Rumble it was the biggest story. Cody won the Rumble again which is the first time a star has won consecutive Rumbles in 20 years (Last one being Stone Cold Steve Austin) so this was an all time memorable moment. And the path is clear for him as he pointed straight to Roman Reigns to challenge him again for the title in the main event of the show of shows. But that’s just one match. What other matches will happen at Wrestlemania? Let’s break it down!

  • Logan Paul vs. L.A. Knight - WWE United States Championship

The Maverick has been killing it in his WWE run. Never thought I’d be so entertained by all of his shenanigans but with his busy schedule we need the title going to someone who needs it. Enter LA Knight, he has lost his last two big matches and this win will get him alot of publicity. LA Knight is my pick. to win. US Champ sounds good for the megastar. YEAH!

  • Bianca Bel Air & Jade Cargill vs. The Kabuki Warriors - WWE Women's Tag Team Championship

Jade Cargill made a huge splash in her debut at the Rumble and one of the most talked about moments was her and Bianca staring down each other. Now I want to see this one on one encounter….but I like a good build so let’s start them off as a strong team. Bianca vs. Asuka has always been a top match, it also happened at last years Mania so the history can carry over. Jade and Bianca win and build to their future feud. Lay the ground work.

  • Jimmy Uso vs. Jey Uso

The greatest tag team in history implodes. The Bloodline story lead to the breakup of the twins. They have spent the most part of the year on different shows. But they started the Royal Rumble as entries 1 & 2. And the heat was there. This is also the dream match for the two brothers. They want to face off one on on at Mania so this is the year to do it. Jey would be my pick to win.

  • Seth Rollins vs. CM Punk - WWE World Heavyweight Championship

The return of the Best in the World to WWE was something no one thought would ever happen. But it did at Survivor Series: Wargames. Since then we have all known Punk’s dream was to main event Wrestlemania. The other person with that same dream is Seth Rollins. So WWE has been building to this. But recently Seth experienced an injury which puts this match in jeopardy. Knowing WWE they will do what it takes to keep this match happening so I believe we will get this as the Night 1 Main Event and Punk will finally win the title in the main event…..BUT TWIST Damien Priest will cash in his MITB to win the title setting up Punk for his next great rivalry.

  • Rhea Ripley vs. Becky Lynch - WWE Women's World Championship

The hints have been laid since the last draft. Rhea Ripley defeated Charlotte for the title and has held it strongly for the whole year so going into Wrestlemania 40 she needs another great challenge. The Man Becky Lynch fits that bill. This will be an underrated but great match. I think Rhea will retain.

  • Bayley vs. Iyo Sky - WWE Women's Championship

Despite them currently being faction mates, the signs have been clear that Iyo and the rest of Damage Ctrl are tired of Bayley. It’s only a matter of time before they kick her out of the group. And with a guaranteed title shot in her pocket I can see Bayley choosing Iyo as her match for Mania. Bayley will lose because of being outnumbered but I think a return from her real best friend, The Boss Sasha Banks will even the odds and make for a memorable Wrestlemania Moment.

  • Romans Reigns vs. Cody Rhodes II - Undisputed WWE Universal Championship

The main event of Night 2 is the biggest rematch of all time! Cody Rhodes has done what few have done. Won the Royal Rumble not just twice but consecutively. Roman Reigns still is going in with the most momentum having held the Universal title 1240+ days. Now to beat Hulk Hogan’s record he would have to hold it until September but honestly this is the time. What about Solo Sikoa, The Tribal Heir? They have hinted towards it and with him on the board of TKO, the media conglomerate that owns WWE and UFC, The Rock I think will be the difference maker. Laying the Smackdown on Solo Sikoa and making way for Cody to get the win. Ending Night 2 as the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion!  Finally Finishing The Story for Dusty! I’m already crying.

  • Extras

    Intercontinental Championship Ladder Match:

Gunther has done it all and needs a challenge so a 6 to 8 person ladder match for the IC Title could be next level. Chad Gable, Dom Mysterio, Ricochet, Ivar, Omos, Bron Brekker could be great for this and great way to end his reign without him getting pinned.

WWE Tag Team Championship: The Judgement Day vs. DIY

This would be a great match to showcase both teams. And a good way to move the belts off the Judgement Day.

Snoop Dogg vs. The Miz II

This match was awful but saved a terrible segment when Shane McMahon ripped his quad last year so let’s get Snoop more time.
