Trey Songz Accuser Drops $20 Million Sexual Assault Lawsuit: Report
Over the years, Trey Songz has been hit with several sexual assault allegations but in recent months, more women have come forward attempting to take legal action against the R&B crooner. However, despite the fact that more alleged victims have come forward, My L.A. News has reported that one lawsuit filed by a “Jane Doe” for $20 million has been dropped.
“A lawyer for the plaintiff, identified only as Jane Doe filed court papers on June 29 asking that her case be dismissed ‘without prejudice,’ meaning it can be revived later,” the outlet reported. The lawsuit was formally dismissed on Wednesday (June 29).
Doe filed the suit in February alleging that the singer, born Tremaine Aldon Neverson had “sexually assaulted, conducted gender violence, intentional and negligent infliction of emotional distress and false imprisonment onto her.” Their relationship had initially been “casual and occasionally sexual” until the “relationship changed radically on March 24, 2016, when defendant Trey Songz (sexually assaulted) plaintiff Jane Doe,” the report states.
Court documents obtained by the outlet did not state whether Doe reached a settlement with Songz or if she chose to not pursue the case for other reasons.
