Drake’s Dad Explains Why Rappers Beef With His Son
Drake’s dad, Dennis Graham, has spoken out amid the rumored beef his son is currently in with Future and Kendrick Lamar.
“Yo I am about to drop some new music, and I am not sure if it’s going to sell, but I am going to call some of my homies and get them to start a beef with Drake and get them to unfollow him, and that’s going make my s— shoot up to number 1,” Graham said. It was a not subtle reference to Future and Metro Boomin who dropped We Don’t Trust You on Friday (March 22). Kendrick Lamar has a guest verse on the album.
He continued: “I’m sure this is going to work so let me get some people on board for this and watch what kind of attention this gets!!!!!!!!!!!! I WILL BE NUMBER ONE 1Day!!!!!!!!!!!!!”
Drake’s Dad Defends Drake Against Joe Budden
This is not the first time that Graham has come to the defense of his son. Back in October, Joe Budden told Drake that he needed to grow in his music, which rubbed the Canadian artist the wrong way.
“[Drake is] rapping for the children,” Budden said on his podcast. “I had to look up how old this n—- was when I finished listening to the album … You gonna be 37 years old. Get the f— away from some of these younger n—–, and stop f—ing these 25-year-olds. … Why are you still f—ing the 25-year-olds? You’re a 37-year-old billionaire.”
He then compared Drake to J. Cole, who changed what he rapped about as he grew. “Cole used to rap about kid s— … And then he started to grow up. And then the rapping sounded like an adult rapping. I want to hear adult Drake rapping for adult people. That’s my issue with him today.”
Drake shared his opinion on the matter, “I thank god for this life and not having to come to rushed conclusions on Best Buy podcast mics,” he wrote in the caption on Instagram.
“It’s a f—ing shame that a young artist can’t do his own thing and enjoy his glory without an old hater motherf—er trying to bust his bubble because he has nothing going on,” Dennis wrote in the comment section defending Drake.
He continued, “And to mention or put a limit on what age anyone should be dealing with which is none of his goddamn business as long as they’re of legal age, I am sick of these old f—ing haters f—ing with my son, if you don’t like what he does keep it moving motherf—er, he’s not bothering you.”
